Fundraising in Uganda - KAASO Office Upgrade

A message to our supporters...

To all those who have given so generously to this project - thanks to you we managed to hit 95% of our target!!! I was able to go to Kampala last week to buy the new office equipment and see it installed in the school office before I left. Due to some excellent negotiation skills from Mr Dinaz (the IT guy) we managed to deliver everything we had scoped for the office (a new 3-in-1 photocopier/printer/scanner, two new laptops, power requirements, paper and ink supplies as well as transport, installation and training) PLUS really enhance the school computer lab by servicing ten old laptops and purchasing new tables and benches for the lab. Previously the tables were shared amongst the library, computer room and main hall - now they will have dedicated furniture for the computer room which will allow them to leave the computers in a permanent set up. The furniture has been ordered and should be arriving this week.

This project really became so much more than just an office upgrade as now that they have better equipment in both the office and computer lab, it has helped them attract a good computer teacher (who doubles as an assistant secretary) which they have been trying to secure for a while. The senior students just have two weeks until their final exams and they will be giving the photocopier a good test run with all their practice exams they will now be able to sit between now and then!!!

I have received so many heartfelt thanks from individual teachers, admin staff, management and students for all this project has brought them. They never imagined that one day they would have new equipment rather than second hand donations. One of the first things they used their new printer for was to print out a list of all the names of those who have contributed to this project, and it will be framed on the office wall.

Please be assured that your dollars have been well spent and your support means so much to so many people in the village of Kabira in Kyotera, Uganda. You have made a real contribution to their education, their futures and the development of their community.

If anyone wants to visit them at any time, you would be welcomed with open arms ;)

Thank you once again!!!
